Do you speak to potential clients at a networking group, have a sales conversation or even SPEAK in front of a large group, and often people either glaze over or give you a polite smile…?
Or worse… they are HAPPY and love what you are saying after you have given them all of the information but they are still not buying your product or service (and often times, people tell you ‘I CAN’T AFFORD IT right now.”)
How can it be this hard if you know that you have been given this GIFT or passion you were meant to share with the rest of the world, and you can barely give it away!?!
Whether or not you want to be a professional SPEAKER, you must be clear on your message in such a way that it speaks to your ideal client so that they want to actually WRITE YOU A CHECK or give you their credit card! Otherwise, you will be a BROKE professional speaker or a STRUGGLING small business owner… which isn’t going to last long and you won’t be able to touch the people you know you are meant to touch.
Sounds simple, right? NOT!
What you say or what you don’t say, as a business owner, makes a BIG DIFFERENCE on whether or not you get a new client/customer and can even determine if you can KEEP the ones you’ve GOT!

Really? You know you can help pretty much ANYONE so why aren’t they all buying from you? The fact is that there is not enough of YOU or money in your marketing budget to market to everyone and until you GET CLEAR on this, you can’t do the following steps to finally MAKE THE MONEY you deserve… (P.S. If you say it’s women, or anyone in PAIN, or couples or MOMs, or business owners – you are wrong…. back to the drawing board)
(yes/no) – I know how (and where) to FIND my perfect, ideal client?
Once you know WHO they are, you need to know WHERE THEY HANG OUT on a regular basis… In order to have a legitimate, viable “target market” that puts MONEY in your bank account, they have to be “easily” found. So if you are marketing to “people with ADHD”, they don’t typically hang out together. Well, not on purpose anyways. There are some resources for this but not enough to find the amount of clients you need to FILL your coaching practice.
You will need to gain perfect clarity on what their exact “perceived” challenges are, what they want to ACHIEVE, what hobbies they have, industries they are in, what they do to have fun, what their demographics are and what they THINK they NEED, in order for you to FIND them and your BEST way to market to them. If you are speaking or SPONSORING and don’t have a system for this then you are EXHAUSTING YOUR BANK ACCOUNT with wasteful expenses as well. NOTE: You also can’t chase TWO RABBITS at the same time.
(yes/no) – I know exactly what my perfect customer/client STRUGGLES with and can verbalize these struggles/pains/challenges in THEIR WORDS?
Let’s face it. You ARE THE EXPERT, and you KNOW exactly what they NEED! But not until you KNOW exactly what they WANT, are they going to pay you what you are worth… There is a proven list of the top 10 things that MOTIVATE PEOPLE TO BUY. Your business and offerings need to coincide with those psychological reasons in order to motivate prospects to PAY YOU for your products and services. I teach these BUYING MOTIVATORS to my private clients and to many people who attend my classes and workshops. It’s often this SMALL TWEAK in their businesses that makes a HUGE difference in the amount of money they start bringing in on a regular basis.
(yes/no) – When I talk to someone about my business in 30 seconds or less, they completely understand WHAT I DO and HOW I HELP MY CLIENTS?
I call this the IMPACT STATEMENT. No, it’s not an Elevator Pitch or Sales Pitch or anything that sounds like a used car salesman. When you have your IMPACT STATEMENT nailed down, the RIGHT PERSON hears exactly what you are saying… How do you know? Well, their ears perk up and their eyes light up and if you are a SPEAKER, someone will often come up to you and say “how did you know what I was going through?” or “how do I get some of that?”… When is the last time someone did that to you? What are you SAYING to get someone to STOP SHOPPING and want to HIRE YOU ASAP to help them SOLVE THEIR PROBLEM OR CHALLENGE?
(yes/no) – My message is CONSISTENT throughout my entire marketing campaign… (which includes what I say out loud when meeting someone in passing, what is on all of my social media profiles and my website, what is on my business card and what I include in all of my marketing and promotional materials)?
If you can’t answer this one then not only will you appear confused, everyone else IS CONFUSED. If you aren’t clear and CONSISTENT, then image how your ideal client feels? I often do an INSTANT EXPERT CREDIBILITY review for my clients so they can be FOUND by their ideal client AND recognized as the EXPERTS they are in their field. We review all of these materials, sites, URLs etc.. and find the biggest mistakes or inconsistencies that take AWAY from you being perceived as the EXPERT you truly are.
(yes/no) – I have a quick 5-20 minute SIGNATURE TALK already prepared (that converts) and am ready to SPEAK – anytime, anyplace, for anyone?
I teach my clients to have this ready so whenever a speaking opportunity comes up; big or small, they are READY FOR BUSINESS. They know HOW to get a new client even when they are speaking for free and can’t sell anything. There is a SYSTEM and a process of getting new clients. We all want to believe that what we have to offer is so AWESOME and there are so many people out there who NEED it the philosophy of “build it and they will come” simply does NOT WORK in the real world.
Being able to SPEAK, SELL and SERVE is the CORNERSTONE of making money in your business!
You can be the BEST, most educational, even well-spoken SPEAKER but if you don’t know how to convert (or SELL) in a way that SERVES your prospect, you will be BROKE!
You can be the best SALES PERSON but if you aren’t SERVING your client and you can’t SPEAK IT in a way that attracts your idea client, you probably have a tough time hanging on to your clients over time or motivating people to take ACTION once they are sold. Even worse, you may have a HIGH CANCELLATION or refund rate….
